A Comprehensive Guide to the Best Mountain Golf Courses in Colorado (And Where to Stay While You Play)

The Rocky Mountains in Colorado offer so much more than world-class skiing (though that’s certainly a big, beautiful part). Colorado also has some truly spectacular mountain golf courses.

This summer, why not take a trip up to the mountains to play some golf and enjoy the unique amenities a ski resort town has to offer? We’ve done all the research for you, and the top golf courses and best lodging are listed right here.

Red Sky Golf Club

With courses designed by Tom Fazio and Greg Norman, Red Sky Ranch offers unparalleled golfing in the Rockies near Vail and Beaver Creek. The two championship golf courses are separated by a ridge that not only serves as a natural divide for two very different courses; it’s also a migration corridor for deer and elk.

Nearby, you and your group will find accommodations that are equal to the stunning greens you spent your day on. Red Sky has several lodging partners, including The Arrabelle at Vail Square, The Osprey at Beaver Creek and The Lodge at Vail, all of which offer a casual elegance that will surely cap an epic round with a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Beaver Creek Golf Club

Since 1982, Beaver Creek Golf Club has been offering a premier golfing experience set against the scenic vistas of Beaver Creek Mountain. Designed by renowned course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr., this course is perfect for playing 18 stunning holes and then retiring to a nearby resort Village for an exploration of all the sights, sounds, tastes and smells the area has to offer.

Since the golf club is only open for guests staying or living in Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead, we recommend you kick up your heels at The Osprey at Beaver Creek or The Pines Lodge.

Summer, winter, spring or fall, these luxury properties offer guests top-notch service in a legendary resort.

Keystone Ranch

One of two golf courses located in Keystone, Colorado, Keystone Ranch, also designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., winds through pines and emerges in sage meadows.

The diversity of the course is purposeful. The front nine is inspired by traditional Scottish links-style courses, and the back nine offers stunning mountain views and ventures off the beaten path, so to speak.

Complement the variety of holes with a variety of premium lodging and dining options to create a truly enjoyable mountain golfing experience.

The River Course

Lake views, Snake River scenery and mountain vistas all on one course! This Keystone golf course is a great fit for golfers of any level. As enjoyable as every green on this course is, the 18th hole really stands out with a breathtaking view of Lake Dillon.

For those who revel in the 19th hole (après for golfers), the River Course Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and happy hour. Make the most of your visit to this course by enjoying your after-golf cocktail on the sunny patio and watch the sun as it sets over the Rocky Mountains.

EagleVail Golf Club

Located in Vail Valley, this stunning golf course is good for beginners and experienced golfers alike.

Designed by the famous Devlin/Von Hagge team, the terrain gives a nod to the ranch land that formerly inhabited the valley. Take special note of the red barn near Hole 2 — a landmark that once served as feed and tack storage.

Eagle Ranch Golf Club

Just 30 minutes outside Vail Resort, Eagle Ranch Golf Club welcomes guests to try their skills at their Arnold Palmer Signature Design Course, which has the feel of a links-style golf course. With GPS-enabled golf carts, you can determine yardage at any point in the course and order food ready at the next turn.

With so many golf courses set in the gorgeous Colorado mountains just minutes from the amenities of a luxury resort, you may never want to golf anywhere else again!
