LA POSADA DE SANTA FE RESORT & SPA, A ROCKRESORT SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO FACT SHEET

HISTORY:  Two centuries before the voyage of Columbus, Native Americans cultivated the land on which La Posada is situated. The Spanish settled the area and in 1882 Santa Fe merchant Abraham Staab built his grand mansion on the newly fashionable Palace Avenue.   In the mid 1930's the Nasons built long-term lodgings for artists on property and named it La Posada, “the inn” in Spanish.  The resort has seen Santa Fe's fascinating history unfold.

THE RESORT: La Posada is synonymous with the Santa Fe style. Set on six beautifully landscaped acres, the pueblo-revival style resort is defined by the smooth brown surfaces of adobe architecture, with Kiva fireplaces, the viga and lattia ceilings. It is picturesque and awash in art. In July 2008 La Posada completed a $6 million renovation project that included an additional dining facility, revamped public spaces and guest rooms.

LOCATION: Downtown Santa Fe, just two blocks from the historic Plaza, art galleries and world class shopping.

ACCOMMODATIONS: La Posada de Santa Fe boasts 157 adobe-style guest rooms, from the cozy artist studios to the elegantly appointed Gallery Suites.  The four unique Gallery Suites are part of the extensive art program at La Posada and are outfitted with original works from some of Santa Fe's most prestigious galleries.

All rooms and suites at La Posada de Santa Fe include contemporary Southwestern décor, in-room safe, CD player and RockResorts Spaâ bathroom amenities.

RESTAURANTS:

            Fuego: AAA Four-Diamond award winning Fuego, also recipient of the 2008 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, features contemporary, innovative foods under the direction of Executive Chef Mary Nearn who uses the finest ingredients from all over the U.S.  Dinner is offered daily and presented with personal, attentive service. One of the many highlights at Fuego is the seasonally changing cheese selection, which is one of the largest in the Southwest.  Fuego’s very own “Cheese Whiz,” introduces some of the rarest ones on the cart and provides mini sessions on the characteristics of each cheese.

            Viga: Viga is La Posada's newest dining establishment for breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring seasonal outdoor seating. Menu items are classic American favorites with a touch of elegance amid savory selections that celebrate Santa Fe's presence in the Southwest. Crafted with the same care and fresh ingredients as Fuego, Viga is a casual, dining venue with something for everyone. During the summer months, Viga’s patio is the ideal place to dine under the stars.

Staab House: Located in the original building, the historic Staab House is an elegant but casual eatery and lounge that serves lighter fare for lunch and dinner and is open late each night.  There are jazz performances three nights a week.  The Staab House is the perfect location for after-dinner cocktails.  

SOCIAL EVENTS/

MEETINGS: La Posada offers venue options for a wide range of events, from corporate retreats and annual meetings to family reunions and weddings. The warmth and understated elegance of the intimate settings provide perfect wedding locales, accommodating up to 250 people.  Many couples choose to exchange vows on the Lawn Court and celebrate with their guests in the ballroom with a garden backdrop.

The Montaña Ballroom with its grand fireplace is the perfect indoor spot for a reception, and can accommodate 150-300 guests.

The 4,500-square-foot conference center holds up to 300 attendees.  State-of-the-art audiovisual equipment is available for formal presentations.  The outdoor gardens are a gorgeous backdrop for important break-out discussions.

ROCKRESORTS SPA: The 4,500 square-foot RockResorts Spaâ at La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa is an oasis for the senses.

The spa offers a full complement of treatments, day packages and services including facials, massages, and complete salon services utilizing indigenous ingredients.  Body treatments include the Adobe Mud Wrap, Chocolate-Chile Wrap, and the Pueblo Salt Glow. The spa features eight treatment rooms, including massage, facial and spa wet rooms, a couples treatment area and private Eucalyptus Steam Room.

ACTIVITIES: La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa offers a wide range of activities at the resort, including “Margarita Monday”, Santa Fe history and culture lectures with history buff Alan Osborne, guided tours of La Posada’s art collection, “Art in Santa Fe conversations” with director emeritus of the Museum of Fine Arts Bob Ewing, wine tasting with sommelier Robert Ortiz and lessons in cheese tasting with “The Cheese Whiz” Patrick Bell. Guests can also try yoga and get local shopping advice from Carol Mui, the “Santa Fe Shopping Expert.”  There are also concerts featuring the sounds of the Native American flute. 

Guests at La Posada are also encouraged to enjoy the activities available in the Santa Fe area, including golf, whitewater rafting, skiing, hiking, and excursions to Santa Fe’s world-renowned shopping areas.
