LUCIA, A ROCKRESORTRodney Bay, St. Lucia – August 15, 2007 – Gary Thulander, a 22-year veteran of the hospitality industry, has been appointed managing director of The Landings St. Lucia, A RockResort, scheduled to open in December 2007. Thulander will oversee all operations of the 231-suite beachfront resort that is currently under construction on Rodney Bay, St. Lucia, in the West Indies. Most recently, Thulander spent six years as general manager at The Equinox Resort & Spa, a former RockResort property in Vermont. He was responsible for all divisions of resort management and spearheaded a $10 million renovation project at the AAA Four Diamond resort. Thulander also held previous positions at The Boulders in Arizona, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Boston, Little Dix Bay Resort in the British Virgin Islands, Chatham Bars Inn in Massachusetts and The Williamsburg Inn in Virginia. He holds a degree in hotel administration from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. “We are thrilled to have Gary Thulander at the helm of this exciting project as RockResorts embarks on a new chapter by returning to its Caribbean roots,” said Stan Brown, executive vice president and chief operating officer of RockResorts and Vail Resorts Hospitality. “His extensive hospitality experience and leadership skills will be instrumental in the creation and success of this world-class resort.” The Landings will be the most luxurious resort on the island of St. Lucia and on par with the best resorts in the Caribbean, featuring the highest quality finishes of exotic wood, imported tile and stone. The resort will span 19 acres and nearly 800 feet of the island’s most stunning beachfront. All accommodations will be waterfront, offering views of the beach, harbor, lagoon or channel. One-, two- and three-bedroom suites range in size from 900 to 2,300 square feet. The Landings will be developed in four distinct phases. Phase One, open to guests in December 2007, will include 62 guest suites, entrance pavilion, spa, salon, fitness center, pool, water sports concession, five acre marina and the Beach Club restaurant. Phases Two, Three and Four will incorporate additional suites, pools and restaurants and will be completed during 2008, 2009 and 2010, respectively. The Landings St. Lucia is located twenty minutes by car from Vigie Airport, just two hours by air from Miami, less than 30 minutes by air from Barbados and Martinique and can be reached by direct flights from locations across the U.S., United Kingdom and Canada.
