Founded by Laurance Rockefeller in 1956 and acquired and re-launched by Vail Resorts in 2001, RockResorts has a history of managing legendary hotels that embrace their spectacular surroundings and enhance the natural beauty of their settings. Today, the RockResorts legacy reflects this original vision by celebrating the natural environment and recognizing that its beautiful resorts and their unique surroundings must be preserved and protected for the enjoyment of future generations. 

In keeping with Rockefeller’s vision for eco-conscious luxury, RockResorts is developing comprehensive environmental programs across the full spectrum of its operations with a focus on energy and water conservation, renewable energy, sustainable construction practices, waste reduction and recycling, cuisine, local community outreach, education and guest activism.
